Our aim is to be the preferred landlord for as many people in need as possible in south
and west London creating real quality of life in mixed and lasting communities.
To achieve our aim:
- We will offer high quality housing and related community services designed to achieve
the maximum choice, neighbourliness and potential for all those who choose us as their
landlord; and
- We will expand our work with deaf people; and
- We will challenge accepted ways and dare to be different while generating genuine,
effective partnerships with residents and other organisations in the public, voluntary and
private sectors; and
- We will create an organisation that gives exceptional job satisfaction and that is a
magnet for the best. We expect all areas of our operations to match the performance of the
top 25% in any sector
Fairness
We work hard to be fair in everything that we do. This applies particularly in the following areas:
- Board and Staff we want our people at all levels to reflect the communities we serve.
- Lettings we want any new homes to be made available as fairly as possible and want to be sure that a fair percentage of our homes goes to people from black and minority ethnic backgrounds.
- Resident Satisfaction we want satisfaction levels to be high from people of all backgrounds.
- Resident Involvement we want all of our residents from all backgrounds to feel that they can join us in helping to run and improve our services.
- Harassment we hate harassment of any type and will do all we can to stamp it out.
- Who we do business with we want our suppliers and contractors to share our approach to fairness.
More about what we do
Founded in 1962 by Dr. Beryl Harding, a physician who lived in Wandsworth - Harding
Housing Association is committed to providing affordable housing to those who need it.
We have over 1300 flats and houses in the London Boroughs of Wandsworth, Lambeth,
Merton, Hammersmith & Fulham , Greenwich and Hillingdon.
We also have 3 directly managed residential care homes in Wandsworth caring for deaf
people with mental health problems. To find out more about our work with deaf people,
please click here. In addition to this we also have a
large number of agency managed and directly managed supported living schemes.
For the last 3 years, we have had a Businessplan target to perform in the top 25% of
all housing associations. Most of our performance indicators are now significantly better
than average. Some of the most important (such as void and bad debt levels) are now the
lowest in our peer group.
In October 1998 we were awarded Investors in People status.
